Fluoride and Dental Sealants
Providing our patients with high quality dental care is not just about a beautiful smile. We offer preventive services that help you achieve the goal of a healthy, functional, and beautiful smile. Services like dental exams and cleanings at our Houston dental office are the key for keeping your family’s teeth healthy.
Regular cleanings and exams help us keep track of the condition of your teeth. Dr. Missonne will examine your teeth using Isolite, a bright light that lets us see the smallest details in your mouth. We use this tool with our intraoral camera to get the best possible picture of the condition of your teeth. We use safe, comfortable digital x-rays that let us see and fix small problems before they become more serious and expensive to fix.
Treatments That Improve Oral Health
For most of our patients, we suggest two dental checkups a year. After we get to know your needs, we may recommend more frequent visits. During these exams, we may find that adding other treatments will help protect your teeth from decay and gum disease.
Fluoride Application
Fluoride is important for protecting healthy teeth from decay and is available through many sources. You will find fluoride in toothpastes, mouthwash, tap water, and foods like fresh vegetables.
If we find that you’re not getting enough fluoride, we have treatments and rinses that will ensure that your teeth are protected properly. We can apply fluoride to your teeth here at our office and may also suggest fluoride rinses that you can use at home.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are another useful treatment that protects the surface of your teeth from decay. Sealants are a thin layer of plastic brushed on your teeth, which forms a protective barrier. They can be applied quickly and comfortably without any preparation. We mostly use sealants for children, because it’s always best to start protecting their teeth as early as possible. Sealants are most often used on teeth with a lot of grooves and spaces where decay is likely to start.
Dr. Missonne may also recommend dental sealants for adults as necessary. However, dental sealants can only be used on teeth that are healthy and have no previous dental work like fillings.
Comfortable Family Care
We want to give you the quality care you deserve so that your family can enjoy healthy teeth for many years. You will never feel like a stranger with us, even when you visit for the first time. Our team is very friendly and wants you to feel at home every time we see you.
Most dental insurance pays for routine cleanings and exams, especially for children. If you have questions about the services your insurance covers, we’ll be happy to help you get the answers you need.
